Deutches Essen, sehr gut.

Rahmschnitzel for supper tonight. Pounded thin pork cuts, dredged in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. Gently browned. Found a use for the chanterelles out of the box, made a cream sauce with mushrooms, bacon, capers. Piled/poured over the schnitzels. Served with steamed broccoli and another Tefft wine, this time a 2004 Signature Reserve Merlot.
We do miss Germany at times, a meal like this is a great reminder of what, exactly, we miss most.

So who here thinks that Dinner is the last meal of the day, as opposed to Supper?

Well, in this northerner's upbringing, dinner is the bigger meal of the day, and supper is a lighter meal served at the end of the day. If you have, for example, Sunday dinner following church, then later in the day, about 5 or 6 you might have something light that didn't involve so much cooking, for supper.

Supper doesn't seem to happen midday, but dinner might. Dinner always has more stuff. I think maybe supper might be a casserole night. Like the night when Henry from his high chair surveyed the table, noted only a casserole and perhaps some fruit on a plate, and said "Is this all there is?"
That was a supper night.
